I have always had a lust for travel. Growing up, I had several fantastic opportunities to travel around Canada with my family as well as for school competitions (yep, I was a band-geek!), which gave me a great foundation and understanding of where I came from.
In 2009, I had the chance to fly to India with two of my best friends, to watch one friend’s brother get married. That was my first international trip without my parents, and it sparked that travel bug even further.
In 2011, I spent a month on the back of my boyfriend’s motorcycle riding through Costa Rica, Panama, and Colombia. He was on a 10-month-long motorcycle trip with three of his closest friends, riding from Saskatoon down to the end of South America. Check out his blog Simply Living on a KLR to read up about their adventures down south. This was another absolutely amazing experience, and I now have a long list of places in Central and South America that I need to visit as well.
So that takes us to September 25, 2013. We will be taking off with plans to backpack around Southeast Asia for roughly 8-10 months, then heading into Australia for some time. We’re leaving with no set return date at all.
This blog is where I’ll be posting pictures, stories, information, and reflections on my travels, experiences, and the amazing times that I hope to have. I’m also going to blog over the next few months about the preparation for the trip, things such as how I quit my career, and other tidbits before the big flight.
